Florida is the third fastest growing state in the United States with a 13 per cent growth over the past few years. This phenomenal growth pattern is attributed to the fantastic weather, relatively low cost of living and high job growth. This growth bodes well for Florida real estate especially in the metropolitan areas of Miami-Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Orlando-Kissimmee, and Jacksonville. Other fast-growing cities include Hialeah, Pembroke Pines, Cape Coral, Port Saint Lucie, Pompano Beach, Tallahassee and West Palm Beach.
Florida Economy
As might be expected, tourism is the major industry in this sunshine state. Approximately 60 million visitors are drawn to Florida’s beaches and amusement parks each year. The warm weather also contributes to agricultural production, the state’s second major economic area. The most popular crops include oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, celery, sugarcane, dairy products, cattle and vegetables. Other key industries include commercial fishing and water-based tourist activities.
Florida Tourism and Recreation
Florida is filled with entertainment and athletic venues sure to please everyone. Orlando is home to the Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld while the popular Busch Gardens is located in Tampa. Visitors also flock to the miles and miles of beaches and beach towns which dot the eastern coast extending all the way down to Key West, the southernmost point of the United States. Naturally the state lends itself to all types of water sports, fishing, boating and just sunning on the beach. Professional sports also abound with the presence of NFL teams, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The NBA is well represented by Miami Heat and Orlando Magic. Major League Baseball teams include the Florida Marlins and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Florida is the traditional home for Spring training for many MLB teams. Auto racing enthusiasts will enjoy the extremely popular Daytona International Speedway.
