Agriculture is also an important factor in Pennsylvania’s economy with products including mushrooms, Christmas trees, corn, horses, poultry, hogs, cattle, dairy products and nursery stock. Tourism is a big factor in Pennsylvania’s economy due to the historic sites around the Philadelphia area.
Pennsylvania Tourism and Recreation
Many of Pennsylvania’s tourists include visits to Philadelphia to see the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the setting for an iconic scene in the film, Rocky. Another major area interesting to tourists is the Pennsylvania Dutch Country in the Lancaster area where members of the Amish and Mennonite religions still practice their religions and subsequent rural lifestyles. Those interested in more outdoors oriented activities will be drawn to state parks and venues such as Hershey Park, Sesame Place, Splash Lagoon, Kennywood and Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. Professional sports are well represented in Pennsylvania with the Philadelphia Phillies, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Philadelphia Eagles, the Philadelphia 76ers, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers.
